Social Media

Social Media

This lesson covers the area of social media.  Specifically, you will create a Social Media Marketing Plan.  Your goal for this lesson is to pick several (for the assignment you should choose at least two) social media platforms and then set goals and track results. A goal setting and tracking template is provided.

The best way to think about social media is that your web site is the hub of your enterprise, and the social media platforms are the spokes. Hence you have a business startup "wheel" that you hope will roll on to success.

The platforms themselves are free to use, and they also have paid advertising options specifically for brands that want to reach even more new audiences. But just because your business should be on social media, that doesn't mean your business should be on every network. It's important that you choose and nurture the social platforms that work best for your business so that you don't spread yourself too thin.

If you want to create a successful social strategy, you need to familiarize yourself with how each network runs, the kinds of audiences you can reach and how your business can best use each platform.   A social media marketing plan is the summary of everything you plan to do and hope to achieve for your business using social networks. This plan should comprise goals for where you want them to be in the near future, and all the tools you want to use to get there.  This specific plan will guide your actions and help your business achieve success in the social media world.

Below are the top social media platforms profiled, enabling you to learn more about them and market your business better.

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
